Notes: I suddenly remembered a game that my friends used to play back in elementary school. A game I always lost in because it's so easy to make me smile or laugh. But here, the 'game' is put to a different use. =)
Darling, If You Love Me
Duo found himself wavering in the fuzzy sensation between sleep and wakefulness. He leaned towards the waking side and blinked his groggy eyes open to see the red digits of the digital clock blink back at him: seven-seventeen am. Wiggling a little, he managed to turn onto his back despite the body spooned up behind him and the arms wrapped around his waist. Stretching, he sighed quietly, feeling refreshed and relaxed, then turned to look at his lover. A slight smile graced his lips as he studied Heero's sleeping face and he could barely resist running his fingers through the soft chocolate brown locks that never seemed to be able to be tamed.
Leaning close again, Duo was surprised that Heero was still asleep.
"Darling, if you love me would you please, please smile?" he asked quietly. Heero didn't budge so Duo changed his tactics. "Baby, if you love me would you please, please smile?"
Still, Heero continued to sleep.
"Honey, if you love me would you please, please smile?"
No response.
"Handsome, if you love me would you please, please smile?"
Still no response.
It was strange for Heero to sleep when spoken to; the slightest noise usually woke him. Duo touched their noses together for a moment, then smiled again before pulling back to study Heero's face.
"Heero, if you love me would you please, please smile?" he asked softly.
The arm around his waist tightened as a secondary reaction to the smile that now graced the sleeping man's lips.
And Duo chuckled, leaning close to steal a morning kiss. "I knew you loved me."
Heero stole a kiss in return before speaking. "Duo, if you love me would you please, please smile?"
"I'm already smiling, Heero. Already smiling."
