The Princes' Choice Part 3

Prince Heero was duly annoyed. Not only had his parents sent him out to find a life mate but they had also sent along Emperor Chang. Emperor Chang ruled the Dagon Kingdom. He was the same age as Heero, same height, his black hair was tied back in a tight ponytail that hit the back of his neck. Chang was a man who believed in honor and justice. Emperor Chang's life mate was also accompany them. Meiran, was a woman born of a strong family, they were all warriors. She took her role as wife very seriously. However it did not escape Heero's attention that the two fought a lot. Yet it seemed to make them stronger. Heero found it odd.

"Your Highness." Heero was brought out of his thinking by one of the knights sent with him.

"Hai."

"There appears to be another group of travelers coming this way."

"I see. Are they a threat?"

"I don't know sire."

Meiran rolled her eyes. Wufei looked at the knight "Are you even attempting to find out?"

"Uh yes, Emperor Chang. I have sent out two knights to encounter them."

Another knight came up to them. "Sir, they are returning, with the other travelers."

"Any sign of them being dangerous?" Heero asked.

"No, sire."

Heero got up to see, with Wufei right behind them. What Heero saw made him feel a little better. Actually it made him feel great. Coming towards them were three men riding on three horses with two camels fallowing. Heero could make out a small figure upon one of the horses and the blond hair poking out from underneath the turban he wore. It was Prince Quatre.

"Friend Heero! It is good to see you again!" Quatre waved to Heero.

When Quatre stopped in front of him Heero nodded, "As you. What brings you this way?"

Quatre got down off the horse. "I am looking for my life mate. What about you?"

"The same it appears." Heero turned to his other companions, "May I introduce Emperor Chang Wufei of the Dragon Kingdom and his life mate Empress Chang Meiran." Quatre bowed, "Wufei, Meiran may I introduce Prince Quatre of the Desert Kingdom." Wufei and Meiran bowed to Quatre.

"It is a honor to meet such honorable persons as yourselves." Quatre said.

"Yes, we are honored to meet you as well." Wufei said, "We have heard of you family in the desert. Such achievements for your family. It would have taken others many years longer than your family."

"I thank you for your kind words."

"Quatre?" Quatre turned to Heero, "Seems how you're out here would you join us?"

"I would like that very much." Quatre turned to Wufei and Meiran. "If that is alright with you."

"I have no problem with that." Wufei said.

"Very well then. Quatre do you and your men need to rest?" Heero asked.

"For a few more minutes. We have been traveling since early this morning."

"Then shall we eat our mid day meal?" Meiran suggested.

They agreed and the four sat and ate. Quatre looked over to see Rashid tending the horses. Then he saw Abdul tending to Rashid. Quatre had to smile. Rashid and Abdul have always taken care of one another. Quatre remembers them doing so when he was younger. Abdul fussing over Rashid and Rashid trying to get him to stop. Sometimes it was too funny to watch. However he himself didn't know why they did those things.

Abdul approached Quatre and bowed to him. "Master, Rashid wanted me to give you this."

Quatre reached out and took what Abdul had brought him. It was a piece of bread. One that had some fruit in it. Dates to be precise. "Thank you, Abdul." Quatre bit into his bread and grinned. Rashid always knew what to feed him.

The rest of lunch went by quietly. When they were done they set off again. Though none of them knew really where they were going. Where do you look for your life mate? Heero was looking for a magical being, and Quatre was looking for someone who would love him but not burden him with their emotions. One thing was for sure it would take a while to find them.

Trowa walked into town and started his trading. There were many people that would buy his herbs. There were considered rare herbs. So rare that people were happy to trade just about anything for them. He would trade for supplies that he couldn't get in the forest. Which wasn't much. Mostly some clothing, blankets, candies for Duo. Duo loved cadies. Maybe too much, but Trowa didn't mind getting him any.

He had only been in town for a few hours and already he missed his friend. Duo was always around. For five years to two had been inseparable. They had become like brothers. This made Trowa happy, he never had a family before. Well that he could remember that is. And now he had a brother. But he was bothered by how Duo was wanting him to leave.

He finished his trading and headed back to the forest. The forest was thought to be magical and all sorts of mystic creatures lived in there. Of course it was true but the average person was not to know this. Only Trowa and a few other people had that knowledge. Most of these people were thought to be kind and gentle people. Trowa had met some of the others. Old wizards and sorts. Of course then there were those who knew but were evil. Trowa had been known to fight to keep these people away. He would gladly die, if it meant no harm would come to the innocent creatures of the forest.
