Blue Forest Banshee Diversions Part 43

"Any plans for the weekend, Duo?" asked Tiffany. She rather suspected any plans the Banshee might have would involve Heero, a bed and a quart of lube, but that wouldn't be polite to say.

Duo looked up from his computer screen. "Maybe," he grinned. He turned his computer so that Tiffany could see the screen. "I was checking out that beach that we go to sometimes, and discovered that there's a fair going on near there. I'm gonna ask Heero if we can go."

The Witch peered at the web page. "You like that sort of thing?" She didn't; she hated crowds with a passion. Carnival midways were for idiots or the terminally hopeful, you wouldn't get her on one of those rickety rides even at gunpoint, and that godawful food was guaranteed to give her food poisoning.

At the moment, she found it simply amazing that Duo actually wanted to mingle so closely with Humans; after all he'd been through. The Banshee was nothing if not resilient.

"Yeah, I love that cheesy carnival stuff. The rides and the animals and the food! And just watching the people. This fair has free concerts too. If we pick the right day, maybe I can drag Heero to a concert." He turned the computer back. "I went to a few fairs. Some of the places I stayed -- you know; families -- would take all the kids. It was supposed to be some kind of 'normal' activity for the foster kids." He shrugged, dismissing that. "I just thought it was neat. This fair has animals; I love looking at the animals. They talk to me."

Tiffany regarded him thoughtfully. "It must have been pretty scary trying to get along in that world."

"Yep." He shook his head and reached for his soda. "I didn't even speak the language, at first. I just didn't talk for the first six months, until I learned enough to get by."

"Listening to you now, one would never know. You sound like a native." She paused, thinking about that phrase. "Well, actually you are a native, aren't you?"

The Banshee laughed. "Technically, I guess I am. Never really thought about it. Most Magical Creatures aren't into the concept of 'native' or 'citizen' like Humans are. We're Clan-loyal, not country-loyal." He blinked. "Well, some of us are..."

"Well, I'm sure if anyone can get Heero to a fair, you can. That Wyvern would do anything for you."

Duo shook his head, embarrassed. "He's not that bad..."

"Yes, Duo; he is," she said firmly. She heard a familiar step on the stairs. "And I'll prove it to you."

They both turned as Heero entered the room.

"Heero!" called Tiffany brightly. "Duo has just been telling me about your plans for the weekend."

Heero blinked. As far as he knew they hadn't made any plans for the weekend. But whatever Duo wanted to do was fine with him.

"Okay," he replied automatically.

"Yeah, it sounds like a lot of fun, Heero. Slogging through barns and corrals; animals slobbering on you left and right; crooked carnival games, rickety unsafe rides, and poisonous food. You'll have a great time!" she finished enthusiastically.

Heero blinked. And blinked again.

He looked at Duo dubiously. "Um... Okay... When do you want to leave?"

Tiffany smirked at the astonished Banshee. "What did I tell you? I should have put money on it."

Heero glared at her as she walked out of the room laughing; the Witch was impossible sometimes.

"Heero!" cried the Banshee. "You really wouldn't mind all that?"

The Wyvern turned to his love. "If doing all that will make you happy, then I am happy to do it." He cocked his head to the side with a smile. "I love you."

A delighted grin spread across Duo's face. He stepped up to wind his arms around Heero's neck. "You are the most wonderful creature..."

Heero's arms closed around his waist and he nibbled at the soft skin of Duo's neck. "Anything for you, Chosen."
