"And so as you can see, by using these procedures, you can expect at least a forty percent improvement as well as increased morale among..."

Duo stifled a yawn and wished he'd brought his sunglasses. At least then he could close his eyes without Sally kicking him under the table. The meeting had been dragging on for hours, all because some government regulation said that Preventers' trainings had to be at least eight hours. So information that could've been given in less than two hours was now spread over eight. At least this presenter hadn't insisted on doing any 'team-building- activities', but if he said 'look at the data' one more time, Duo was going to throw a pencil at him.

He turned his head slightly. His partner was sitting beside him, shoulders back, nice and straight, his gaze turned towards the presenter.

Duo wasn't fooled. Behind the presenter was an open window that looked out on the parking lot and part of the city beyond. It wasn't the best or most inspiring of views, but it was a nice day out there- and he could see Heero's cycle parked in its corner spot. He was betting his partner was longing to be free of the room and on that motorcycle.

Duo watched the sunlight sparkling off Heero's bike and wished he'd brought his today too. Then he might have been able to ask Heero to take a ride, go get some dinner, clear their heads after this horrible meeting...

He smiled wryly. Be honest, he told himself, you just want to be behind Heero so you can watch his...

He caught himself. He didn't dare even think it- not with Heero right beside him. He looked at the clock and sighed. Was this meeting never going to end?

Heero grabbed one of the post it notes on the table and scribbled something on it. Duo blinked, wondering if the presenter had said something important finally and he'd missed it.

A moment later, and the post it was in front of him.

Dinner?

Duo smiled and picked up his pencil.

Sounds good- but I took the bus today.

Heero was watching out of the corner of his eye. He nodded faintly.

We can take my bike.

Heero's bike would sit two... but he'd have to be close... Duo didn't hesitate for long though.

Okay. Where?

Steak? Feeling carnivorous at the moment.

Duo grinned.

Sounds good.

A small pink post it note landed in front of them.

Love notes, boys? Aren't you kind of old for that?

Duo looked up to meet Sally's teasing grin. He rolled his eyes at her. Heero was writing something on Sally's note.

Duo caught a glimpse before Heero tossed it back at her.

Hey- I got a date out of it. Don't knock it if it works!

Duo's eyes widened. Was Heero serious?

Heero tapped the paper in front of him.

Is that okay with you?

He didn't have to think long for an answer. Very okay.

Heero's smile glowed and Duo smiled back, aware that Sally was looking amused on the other side of the table. Duo looked at the clock again.

Okay, time to end this training. He had a date.

He got up from his seat as if he was headed to the bathroom, making a small stop on the way.

They later blamed the blackout on faulty wiring; the building was an older one and needed repair. In fact, Lady Une made a good case for using some of the training money to do some remodeling instead...
