It's probably not good to start off my holiday ficlets with an oops... but I have one. I mixed up a costume party prompt with an Ifrit prompt... so, this doesn't count as a requested prompt, but... it's ficlet? Sort of a general kick off? Yeah, I know. Next one really will be a requested prompt!

Ifrits & Angels Halloween Drabble

"It's nearly midnight, any sign of the target?"

Duo joined him at the rail and Heero shivered as black feathers brushed against his cheek. "No sign of him at all. I wonder how accurate the information we received was."

"Chang was sure that the informant was speaking the truth. The man was supposed to be here- out of hiding just for this- and this is our only chance to catch him." Heero leaned out over the balcony a little more and studied the dance floor below. He caught sight of a smooth dark jackal head looking in their direction and shrugged. The jackal nodded and faded back into the crowd.

Duo laughed softly in his ear. "I have to say, I approve of this holiday- and I know Zechs does too. How often could we walk around like this and have no one think twice about us?"

A gleam of gold caught Heero's eye. "Quatre seems to be enjoying it too."

Duo moved closer, sliding his hands around Heero's waist. "I'd be enjoying this so much more if we could just find the target..." His lips brushed the curve of Heero's ear, making Heero shiver.

"Don't do that here-"

Duo's lips moved to the curve of Heero's neck. "No one is looking- and even if they were it's not like they'd know who we are."

"We have to find the target first. He's supposed to leave before the unmasking-"

"So what if this scribbler publishes his book? No one is going to believe that the Church is hiding monsters."

Heero elbowed his lover in an attempt to free himself. "I'd rather not find out, all right?"

Much to his surprise, Duo released him. "Quatre's found him. They have him cornered outside." His fingers grasped Heero's wrist and pulled him towards the stairs. "Let's go-"

Even in the dark garden, Quatre gleamed. He was easy enough to spot, Trowa a shadow beside him. He was talking easily to a man wrapped in a cloak with a death's head mask. "Leaving before the unmasking is unheard of," he was saying as they approached. "Won't you stay a little longer?"

"No, I really have to go," the man was edging towards the gates. "I only came to speak to my fiancée for a moment-"

"The lovely Victoria," Duo said with a smile and the man gasped.

"How do you know who she is? Who I am?" The man's voice deepened and Heero could hear the panic in it. "Are you from the Church? I told her-"

"William Meyer." Zechs' voice echoed out of the dark behind them. "There is no place to flee."

Heero stepped backwards as the three Immortals surrounded the unfortunate William Meyer. The man's frightened gaze moved from the golden ifrit to the black-winged angel to the jackal-headed deity. "It's true isn't it? You're what the Church is hiding! The monsters!"

Duo shook his head. "We aren't monsters."

Heero was pretty sure he heard Wufei snort faintly behind him. "What say you, judge?" Quatre asked and Zechs put his hand on William Meyer's chest.

"Not as light as a feather, but not completely dark either. He seeks to cause a sensation, or barring that, get a payment from the Church for his silence. He wishes to impress his bride to be and her family."

"Ah," Quatre sounded faintly regretful. "Then we can't incinerate him."

Heero was pretty sure that Meyer was close to passing out from fright.

Duo laughed and stepped forward, darkness swirling around his fingertips. "In that case, it's up to me." His fingers brushed over Meyer's forehead, the darkness sinking into Meyer's skin. A moment later and Meyer was regarding them blankly.

"Where am I? Where's Victoria?"

"Inside," Quatre said smoothly. "You just came out to return that file you found to us. The one in your coat pocket."

Meyer pulled out a flash drive dazedly and handed it to Quatre. Then he turned and headed back into the party. Quatre handed the flash drive to Trowa with a smile.

"Incinerate him?" He heard Trowa laugh. "You know that we aren't allowed to do that. Feeling a little grumpy tonight?"

Quatre shrugged. "I had to waste my evening looking for him instead of being with you. This was supposed to be our time off. Let's go home."

"I agree," Zechs said to Wufei. "I also would like to return home."

"I thought you were enjoying the party," Wufei snorted.

"I think I'll enjoy you more, my heart."

Heero didn't hear more, Duo was already pulling him away, rolling his eyes. "I don't know how the Guardian does it..."

"Where are we going?"

"Isn't it obvious? Home." Duo's grin flashed out. "Unless you want to return to the party? And finish what we were starting?"

"You mean you were starting."

Suddenly he was enfolded in black feathers, the angel's lips on his, harsh and demanding, stealing his breath and inflaming his blood. "Master... tell me what you want...."

It took a moment to find his breath. "Take me home."
