For mechante_fille - Horrible Halloween. Course the prompt was 'horrible halloween' so I'm hoping the ghost stuff in here covers that part. Put it anywhere along the timeline that you feel comfortable.

Horrible Halloween Drabble 1
Peeping Poltergeist

"... at the very last, Rose Garden managed to pull off the save, but it was a close thing." Too damn close. He'd be having nightmares about this one. Heero suppressed a yawn and squelched the urge to rub his eyes- his gauntlets were still on, and with his luck he'd end up blasting himself...

"Anything else to add to the file?" JAYS asked.

"Never ever volunteer to help Rose Garden with those two psychos again." At least his nemesis wasn't as bad as those two...

"Noted."

As the last piece of the suit came off, Heero cast a look at the screen beside his head. "Is that all, JAYS?"

It shouldn't have been possible for an AI to sound hesitant, but JAYS managed it. "Well... there was some unexplained activity on the upper floor today."

Heero frowned. "Unexplained activity? What do you mean?"

"The stereo turned on by itself. The fridge door opened."

"You control those things, JAYS."

"The system recorded them as manual overrides."

"Was someone in the house? Did 'Lena come by?"

"No sir. There is no record of any visitors, no security breach."

"Cameras?"

"Detected the activity- no life forms visible."

Visible- that was the key. Heero felt a small chill go down his spine. Wraith- it had to be. How had he figured out where Heero lived?

And was he still here?

"Sir?" JAYS sounded almost worried. "Do you have an explanation?"

"I think so- and not one I really like. Don't suppose we can blame it on a poltergeist..."

"No paranormal activity has been recorded, sir. No heat or cold surges, no floating lights..."

"Damn." Should he suit up again? Have a look around? "When did the unexplained activity occur?"

"Five hours and forty five minutes ago."

Wraith wouldn't hang around that long- Heero knew his arch nemesis got bored easily. Still... he could always come back... and how could Heero keep him out? Maybe the new scanner could be adapted? Sure he hadn't tested it yet to see if it could even pick up Wraith, but...

Pulling on the warm sweats he'd left beside the pad earlier that evening, Heero headed over towards his command console.

"Sir? What are you doing? You haven't rested in over 24 hours..."

"I can't let Wraith catch me sleeping. Open up the new scanning program for me? Let's give it a run on the house cameras..."

Two hours and several scans later, JAYS closed up the window in front of Heero. "Wh-at?"

"You need to rest. Scans show no sign of an intruder."

"He's never shown up on a scan..." Heero muttered, rubbing his forehead. JAYS had a point though- nothing else had happened...Though the idea that Wraith had figured out where he lived...

"Crap! If it is him, then he knows who I am!"

JAYS made a sound that resembled a sigh. "I wondered when you would realize that, sir. I have been monitoring all news stations- no announcements outing you have been made-"

"There wouldn't be- that's not his style."

"Precisely, sir. So please, go and rest?"

"I don't remember programming you to nag me."

"You programmed me to look after you, sir. It's not nagging."

Heero dragged himself to his feet and headed up the stairs. When he was reduced to arguing with his computer, he knew he'd hit a low...

Shower first, he decided, feeling the ache in his muscles. Otherwise he'd freeze up tomorrow- and if there was another emergency, he'd regret it.

The shower didn't take long to warm up. Heero pulled off his clothes and put himself under the warm spray. He managed to scrub himself up, but the water was so relaxing that he ended up leaning against the shower wall, yawning. Damn if he wasn't careful, he'd fall asleep right here...

The shower head suddenly doused him with cold water. Heero stood bolt upright, grabbing for the controls, gasping in shock. What the hell....?!

"JAYS!" He yelled, as the water warmed again. Damn computer didn't answer- course JAYS didn't have a speaker in the bathroom either- but Heero knew it had access to the pipes.

He rinsed the soap off and turned off the water, still muttering under his breath. He grabbed a towel and started to dry himself, when he froze, his attention caught by the mirror in front of him.

Sorry for the cold douse. I needed to cool off a bit! ;)

Heero stared at the words written in the steam and wrapped his towel tightly around his waist. "Wraith?" He said, trying to keep his voice calm. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

"Living up to my name, of course. Everyone needs a ghost around..." Wraith sounded amused, his voice echoing off the tiled walls.

Maybe the direct route would work for once? "Look, I've had a really long day. I get it. You know who I really am. What do you want?"

A soft chuckle by his ear made him turn, but no one was there. "I've known who you are for a long time. I'm here because I don't really want to break in a new nemesis again- and I was worried you'd drown yourself in the shower."

Heero's mouth dropped open in surprise.

"It's just an added bonus that you're awfully sexy when you're all wet and confused like this." Unseen fingers brushed along the top of the towel at his waistline, sending shivers over his skin. "Now, are you going to be a good little superhero and go get some rest- or am I going to have to tuck you in....?"

Heero closed his mouth and took a deep breath. Well, he thought, what can I do? The suit is two floors away...

"I don't think I'm going to be able to go to sleep anytime soon." He admitted, and was rewarded with another soft caress.

"Well then, we'll just have to find something else to do...."
