fiery_robin: Heero/Duo Preventer party, scary

Halloween Drabble 26

Heero frowned as the guy in front of him began to repeat the same dumb joke for the third time. He tried to remember the guy's name. Was he the one from the file room?

If only he wasn't stuck in the corner, then he could slip into the crowd and be free. But he'd settled himself here earlier, not like the crush of people, and now he was stuck with this drunk bore.

"Heero! There you are!" A familiar voice called out, and a moment later, his partner was standing beside him.

"Duo," he said, relieved. His partner winked at him.

"Excuse us," Duo said and grabbed Heero's elbow, pulling him off into the crowd. "You looked like you needed a rescue." He added once they were far enough away.

"I did. Thanks- I owe you one."

"I'll make sure to remind you of that." Duo chuckled and pulled Heero out to the balcony. The air was crisp and cool- a relief after the smokiness of the party.

Duo leaned against the balcony, his head tilted to the side. "Nice costume."

Heero shrugged and tugged on the edge of the Oz uniform jacket. "It's the only thing they had left. It's weird wearing one of these."

"Still, you look good in uniform." Duo's voice dropped an octave, turned warm and caressing. "Really good."

Heero knew what that meant. "Duo- don't..." Hadn't they gone over this before?

"I can't look now?" Duo lifted an eyebrow. "I don't think you said I couldn't in your long list of what I was allowed to do..."

Heero bit his lip. Damn it. He'd really hoped Duo had gotten over this by now. He wondered if he should go inside again.

"I didn't say that-" he protested and Duo shook his head.

"I know what you meant." Duo moved closer. "I can't wait much longer, Heero."

"You shouldn't be waiting at all." Heero tried. "I told you..."

"I know what you told me. I remember that morning all too well. Too cold, too damaged, not good enough for me... all after the most amazing night..." He snarled slightly.

"I shouldn't have- I said I was sorry!"

"I remember." Duo snorted.

Heero fidgeted with the edge of his coat. What could he say to make it better? Why was Duo still like this? He knew they weren't meant to be together. Someone as warm and vibrant and alive as Duo with someone like him? It would never work. Why wouldn't Duo see that?

"You didn't ask me about my costume," Duo said and Heero's head snapped up. He looked at Duo's black pants and silk shirt.

"You're wearing one?"

"I am." Duo moved suddenly, pinning Heero against the balcony, his hands on Heero's wrists. "Or rather, I've taken my usual one off."

Heero tried to free himself, but he couldn't- when had Duo gotten so strong?

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that I'm tired of waiting Heero. I'm tired of waiting for you to come to me willingly. I thought I had you that one night, but then you decided to be stubborn. You're mine and I intend to claim you."

Heero felt panic flare. Had Duo gone crazy? What was he talking about?

Duo smiled then, and Heero's heart stopped at the sight.

"It won't hurt," Duo said and his tongue flicked over one of the sharp canines in his mouth. "It won't, I promise..." His eyes glowed and Heero stopped struggling. He tilted his head back willingly even as one small part of his mind screamed for him to run away.

Duo's lips touched his throat. "Mine now..." he murmured and bit deep.
