Heero rubbed his eyes as he shoved the gearshift into park. More than anything, he wanted to back the car out of the driveway and go back to work- but Sally had threatened to hit him over the head if she saw him anywhere near HQ for the next twenty four hours.

Putting his head against the steering wheel, he sighed. Maybe he should just sleep in the car- better than trying to face going inside the house... even though in a few hours the yearly neighborhood block hunt would start- and he didn't really want to have to explain why he was sleeping in the car...

He glanced over at the empty space on the driveway beside him. Duo's bike was usually parked there- but Duo had stormed out in a rage over a week ago. Heero wasn't sure where he'd gone- or if he'd be back this time. Heero hadn't meant to upset him- hadn't even realized that Duo was getting upset over his behavior...

It wasn't as if he hadn't tried to find Duo- left messages on his cell, called their friends- even braved Howard.

His neck was starting to hurt. Opening the door, he got out of the car and headed towards the house.

As he started up the walk, something glinted by his foot. He bent down to discover a small pink tinfoil covered chocolate egg. Had someone put these here for the kids? As he raised his head, he spotted another one- green this time- and a little ways away- a purple one. In fact there was a line leading right up to the door....

Heero glanced around again. No one in sight. Frowning, he picked up the eggs, dropping them into his jacket pocket as he made his way up the steps. The door showed no signs of being forced, the alarm was on- but right inside the door was a blue foil egg, glinting on the hall carpet.

Quietly, Heero made his way down the hallway, following the trail of eggs, not picking them up now- now he was hopeful. There was only one person he could think of who would do something like this-

Duo was stretched out on the bed, a half empty bag of foil eggs beside him. He grinned as Heero entered the room, wriggling his bare toes in the sheets as he stretched. "You're late," he said and tapped the bag next to him. "I was about to eat these all by myself."

Dropping his jacket over the closest chair, Heero approached the bed. "For breakfast?"

"Well, you weren't here to make me breakfast." Duo reached out and wrapped his fingers around Heero's tie. "What else could I do? You know I'm a hopeless cook."

Heero let Duo pull him down to the bed, slid his hand across Duo's warm stomach. "I'm sorry I'm late."

Duo tasted like chocolate, decadent and rich, and Heero closed his eyes, savoring the taste, happiness swirling through him.

"I'm sorry, too," Duo murmured against his mouth. "Really sorry. I shouldn't have-"

"It was my fault- I didn't know-"

"How could you? I didn't tell you-"

Crushing the rest of Duo's apology with a kiss, Heero settled into the warm sheets and relaxed.

"I'm glad you're home."

"Me too." Duo brushed his fingers over Heero's face. "You look exhausted. You've been at work all this time, haven't you?"

"Couldn't be here without you," Heero admitted and smiled. "Let me have a ten minute nap and then I'll make you breakfast."

Duo chuckled and curled up beside him. "No worries. I've still got these, remember?" He rattled the bag and it was Heero's turn to laugh. "Sleep yourself out and then we'll go get breakfast- or lunch- or whatever."

Curling his arm around Duo, Heero closed his eyes. "Sounds good."
