Disclaimer: Gundam Wing is not mine.

This is for klingonpoo, and there is a sort of long story behind it. Short version- we spent part of a day at Disneyland together and had some fun talking about the boys being there.

So, unless you know Disneyland well, parts of this might not make any sense. And it's really sheer crack- AU and OC and all that.

I hope you like it Les! *hugs* I didn't manage to get the infamous Jungle Cruise 'back side of water' in. Maybe the next one?

Canoes, Pirates and Ghosts

"I don't think the ride was supposed to go that fast." Duo laughed as he shook the water droplets out of his bangs.

"It wasn't my fault," Heero snorted as they quickly ducked under the bridge and headed for the next ride. "You're the one who said that you could row better than I could."

"I did not. I just said that my side was going to go faster."

"If your side had gone faster, the canoe would've spun in a circle." Heero pointed out. "I was trying to keep us moving the way we were supposed to go."

"Moving is the word. We sure did that- though I think we were supposed to stop and see things on the way."

"See what? They're remodeling. There's nothing to see."

"Well, even if there was- we didn't see it." Duo laughed again. "But I think the kids behind us were having fun."

Heero rolled his eyes. "They were betting on how fast we were going to get back to the dock."

"And I won 5 bucks off them."

"Only 5? You're slipping."

"They're kids, I didn't want to rob them blind," Duo said as they stepped inside. They had picked a good day to go to the park, he thought to himself. Not too busy, but not completely deserted either. A perfect day to see if all the cautious flirting he'd been doing with his best friend could be turned into something more.

Heero's eyes widened when he got a look at the ride they were about to get on. "Another boat?"

"No paddles this time." Duo grinned. "We can just lean back and relax. Just us," he said to the cast member with a wave at Heero.

"Row 2." She smiled back.

"Figures." Heero said as he followed Duo onto the boat. Duo just smiled back, draping himself over the seat. They were the only two on the boat, and he intended to use the opportunity to his advantage.

The boat gave a slight jolt and moved forward. Heero blinked. "Is that a restaurant in the ride?"

"Yep." Duo waved at a couple sitting by the railing.

"I thought this was pirates, not the bayou," Heero frowned at the animatronic man on the porch.

"You saw the movie- that voodoo woman was living out in the bayou."

"She was?"

Duo shrugged. "Someplace kind of watery anyway."

The ride darkened, and a skull appeared above their heads.

"Sit closer together," it croaked and Duo slid over a little bit on the seat. He heard Heero chuckle, but the other man didn't move away. "And keep your ruddy hands on board. That be the best way to repel boarders. And mark well me words, mateys: Dead men tell no tales!"

"It would be kind of creepy if they did," Duo whispered.

"Well, if you look at it from a forensic viewpoint, a body can tell you..."

"Shh!" Duo said, just as the boat made a sudden drop.

Heero brushed the water droplets off his leg and scooted a little closer to Duo. "So now it's a dark cave. What does this represent?"

"We're traveling back through time to see pirates?"

Heero rolled his eyes, but didn't say anything as the boat drifted along. Duo wondered if now was a good time to try and kiss Heero- but if Heero decked him, he'd end up in the water, and that might not be good.

"Ah, here are the dead men," Heero said as they drifted past pirate skeletons scattered over a beach.

"And they aren't talking."

"But they are sailing a boat and... playing chess? How did that happen?" Heero frowned at the skeletons beside the boat. "Do people just die over the chess board?"

"Maybe they shot each other- chess is an intense game you know."

"Poker is an intense game but we haven't shot anyone yet."

"I don't know- I think Wufei came close that last time. He was so sure that he was going to win that he bet-"

"You tricked him into it." Heero interrupted. "He never would've otherwise."

"I wonder if Trowa's collected yet."

"Quatre said yes." Heero blinked as the boat drifted into the middle of a battle. "One ship against a town?"

"Why not? Think how many cannons those pirate ships carried." Duo grinned.

"Good point." Heero glanced up towards the shadow fight on the wall. "Someone was having way too much fun with this."

"Well, isn't that the point?" Duo gestured at the pirate-invaded city. "All the excitement of a pirate raid- and no real bloodshed."

Heero's face darkened and he was silent as they drifted through the city. He didn't speak until they passed a group of pirates bidding on 'wives'. "You're right. Bet the real thing didn't look a lot like this."

"Well," Duo tried to lighten the atmosphere as he pointed to a pirate drinking in the mud with a group of pigs. "I would bet that happened."

The city was now awash in flames. "And this too," Heero said. "Though I would hope the pirates would be smart enough to get out with all their things before they set fire to the city."

"Maybe, but you're supposed to be getting a moral lesson here, Heero." Duo nudged him in the ribs. "Crime doesn't pay- and drinking will get you killed- unless you're the hero of the movie."

Heero suddenly smiled. "You're right- and to drive home the point-" he nodded to the group of pirate prisoners doing their best to convince the 'good doggie' to give up the key. "They make sure you know where you'll end up."

Duo shook his head. "That's no way to get a dog's attention," he muttered. Heero lifted an eyebrow.

"How would you do it?"

"Ignore the damn thing. That always works with Hilde's mutt."

Heero laughed. "I'd bet you're right."

The boat ascended back up into the loading area and they stumbled out into the sunlight. "Where to next?" Duo asked. "Haunted Mansion? Splash Mountain?"

"Splash Mountain sounds like more water."

"It is. It's a log ride that ends with a long fall into the briar patch."

"That doesn't sound comfortable. Ghosts sound better."

"Well, if you're born and bred in a briar patch, it's okay. But yeah, ghosts sound a little easier than dealing with B'rer Fox."

"What the heck are you talking about?"

"B'rer Rabbit?" Duo tried and Heero looked blank. So on the way over to the Haunted Mansion and as they stood in line outside of the old fashioned looking building, Duo told him the story of B'rer Rabbit and the Tar Baby.

Heero snorted when Duo finished. "I can see why you like that story."

Duo lifted an eyebrow as they stepped inside the foyer of the Mansion and cool air swept around their ankles. "And why is that?"

"The rabbit sounds a lot like you."

Duo wasn't sure if he should be insulted, but before he could react, a voice echoed out of the walls: "When hinges creak, in doorless chambers..."

The door slid open behind them and the Victorian clad attendant droned: "Please drag your bodies to the dead center of the room."

"It's a B movie set," Heero whispered and Duo rolled his eyes, dragging Heero into the picture gallery. The doors slid closed and the host- the ghost host- introduced himself as the pictures started their stretching.

"Relena needs some of these in that gallery of hers," Duo said as the lights blew out and maniacal laughter echoed through the room.

"Yeah, I'll let you introduce that idea to her." Heero took Duo's elbow firmly in his as they headed towards the doom buggies.

The buggies were more cramped than the Pirate boat and Duo took shameless advantage of the fact. This would be a good place to kiss Heero- and if he did react badly then Duo would say he was really trying to scare him... or something less lame than that. He'd think of something...

He'd wait til they got to the cemetery- almost at the end. That would be a good place. The ride would almost be over in case things got awkward- and he'd have most of the ride to work himself up to it.

"Duo?" Heero said in a tone that indicated he'd said Duo's name at least once before.

Madam Leota started conducting her séance as Duo turned his head towards Heero. "Hm?"

Heero kissed him.

It was fast- and Heero sort of missed his mouth- the kiss landed on the corner- but it was a kiss. Duo blinked at him.

Heero leaned back a little. "Are you going to hit me?"

"Hell no." Duo leaned forward. "Not if you do it again. Right now."

~*~

"We have to go on that again," Heero said as they exited the ride.

"Why?"

"I didn't see half of it."

"And whose fault is that? I didn't plan on kissing you until the end of the ride. You're the one who jumped the gun."

Not that Duo really minded. No way in hell.

Heero smirked. "You don't understand. I want to go back on and miss all of it this time."

Duo grabbed his wrist. "Let's go."
