Endless Summer Part 10
Scandalized Dragon

While Heero and Duo were laughing in Heero's kitchen, Wufei was walking down to Ponderosa Point in a very agitated state of affairs.

/// Didn't he realize I was only kidding about sleeping with Heero? /// Wufei shook his head, trying to clear the image of Heero lying in bed bare-ass next to Duo, both of them rumpled and ruffled from a night of... ahem... extracurricular activities.

He could live without ever seeing Heero's ass sticking up in the air like that ever, ever again. He could live quite comfortably.

It's not that he hadn't known Heero didn't really have a gender preference when it came to his bedmates... it was just one of those things that one did not like to see thrust upon them at five in the morning.

But thinking back on it, he really wasn't all that surprised. Surprised, but not, you know... surprised. He had seen the way Heero had watched Duo, and somewhere deep inside he had known it was only a matter of time before Heero Yuy made his move. And when Heero had carried the unconscious Californian from the bonfire the night before, Wufei knew that that was all it would take.

There was just one little thing Wufei could think of that could ruin that little relationship. Billabong Pro. Didn't Heero see what that meant? As far as Wufei knew, Trowa, Heero, Duo, and Relena were the only real competition in the contest. And out of those four, the two to watch would be "Heartless" Yuy and "Reaper" Maxwell. Head to head. How could they do such a stupid thing right before the contest?

It was illogical. It was dangerous. But worst of all, it was Heero's first competition in four years. It was the competition that could get him back in the circuit. And Heero didn't need anything to ruin it. Particularly not a summer fling with a beautiful haole from the west coast... one who probably didn't even plan on staying on Oahu for very long, anyway.

Wufei was Heero's friend, had been Heero's friend since they were old enough to beat the hell out of each other. It was, in fact, how they had began their relationship.

Wufei admitted (although it hurt his substantial pride to do so) that Heero was a much more adept surfer than himself. But he could whip Heero's ass in a fistfight, so he figured it was a pretty even relationship.

Baka bounded up next to him, jumping around him like a canine bouncy ball, barking happily. Wufei scowled down at the dog. He never petted Baka; he treated the dog as one of their equals, the same as he would treat Heero or any of the others, and no less. "Some help you are to your master, you flap-eared fool. How could you let Heero get involved with that Duo Maxwell? Do you not have any sense?"

The labrador retriever just grinned his inscrutable doggy grin, wagging his tail like a maniac.

"I will never know what Heero sees in you, you drooling moron."

Wufei walked on to the Point, carrying his surfboard at his side. He suddenly saw a familiar figure standing on the beach, arms crossed over her chest, bare foot tapping the sand.

"Wufei Chang!"

Wufei flinched at the accusatory tone of the girl's voice. "Good morning, Relena."

Relena glared at him balefully. "I've been waiting for you for half an hour to bring Heero back down here. Where is he? What in the hell is taking him so long?! We were supposed to catch the morning tide."

Wufei blushed deeply.

Relena stopped tapping, raising an eyebrow. Wufei... was blushing. This was an interesting turn of events. "Wufei... sweetie... where is Heero?" she asked sweetly, throwing one arm around Wufei's shoulders.

The look on Wufei's blushing face was unreadable. "He's... not up yet."

Relena stood in front of him and looked into the Chinese boy's face, purring dangerously. "What's going on, Wuffie? What aren't you telling me?"

If possible, Wufei blushed harder. He shook his head. "Nothing."

Relena came closer towards him, until they were almost close enough to kiss. "Don't give me grief, Wufei Chang, or we will not be going on that date Friday night. Do you understand me?"

/// Geez, woman, give me a break... ///

"He's in bed still. I told you."

Relena threw her hands up, exasperated. "Then why in the hell didn't you wake him up?"

"... He was... ah..." Wufei cleared his throat.

Relena glared at him. "Spit it out."

"He had... company." Wufei's face looked as if it would soon catch on fire.

The two of them looked at each other. Neither one really knew what to say at first.

But Relena knew what to say, though. She grabbed Wufei by the shoulders, looking half-angry and half-surprised and half-shocked and half-curious. It was a lot of halves mixed in together, Wufei decided. "WHAT?! Who is it? Did you walk in on them while they were getting it on, or what?"

Wufei scowled at her. "It is none of your business who Heero... sleeps with. And no," he added, blushing harder.

Relena frowned back at him. "It is so my business who Heero sleeps with. Since when does he have a girlfriend?! Who is she? Was she at the bonfire last night?"

/// Oh boy... ///

"No, she wasn't."

"What..."

Wufei raised his eyebrows suggestively, and realization hit Relena like a sack of bricks. She brought a hand up to her gaping mouth "Noooo... You're kidding me... are you kidding me Wufei?!"

Wufei answered drily. "Do I ever?"

Relena gasped. "Holy shit... holy shit! Are you sure!?"

"... I could not be more sure than if I had walked in on... you know."

"Oh my God... is it who I think it is?"

Wufei scowled. "Well, it was not Trowa and Quatre, if that's what you were thinking."

Relena frowned back at him. Again. "Of course not. I was talking about that Maxwell boy. Was it him? I saw Heero looking at him. With... you know... that look."

Wufei looked back at her coolly. "I stand on the fifth, on the grounds that answering that question will incriminate me. Now did we come here to surf or to discuss Heero Yuy's love life? Because if it is the latter, I could have most definitely slept in this morning."

Relena slapped one fist into her open palm, laughing. "I knew it. He did boff the Reaper. I kind of figured Duo Maxwell swung that way, I mean, look at the hair! But Heero... I never knew he was into other guys, too..."

Wufei blushed again.

Relena looked at him carefully. "Now what is that blush for, Wu?"

"..."

Relena's eyes took on a suspicious glint, and she raised an eyebrow at him. Wufei hated that expression. It usually entailed something dangerous or mischievous or both. "Wait wait wait a damned minute. You and him haven't-"

Wufei's gaze shot up to hers, eyes widening in horror as he realized what she was implying. "Never! Never!"

"Are you sure?"

"OF COURSE I'M SURE!! HOW COULD I NOT BE SURE ABOUT THAT, WOMAN?!"

Relena raised her hands in surrender, laughing. "Sorry, sorry, Wu. Didn't know you were so sensitive..."

Wufei bristled furiously. "I am not sensitive, I simply have not 'boffed' Heero Yuy, as you so quaintly put it..."

"But Duo Maxwell has, hasn't he? Or has he been the boffee?"

Wufei glared, crossing his arms over his chest. "I have no idea. To presume such would be to besmirch their honor without knowing the entire story. I will make no such accusation without proof."

"So what exactly were they doing?"

"Sleeping, just sleeping, forget I brought it up!" Wufei grabbed his surfboard and headed towards the water.

"No, I will not!" Relena said, grabbing her board and following him. "I will not forget it, Wufei Chang. Now you tell me exactly how you came to the impression that they slept together last night, or I'm telling the paparazzi and The Atoll that Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell, Billabong Pro's greatest rivals, are having a sordid affair."

Wufei turned around and looked at her dangerously. "You wouldn't dare."

She stared him down, sticking her board in the sand and crossing her own arms stubbornly. "Oh wouldn't I?"

They glared at each other for a few minutes. Neither was willing to back down. Finally, Wufei sighed. "Fine. All right. They were sleeping. That's what they were doing."

"So what's so telling about that, Wufei?"

"They were sleeping together."

Relena mulled this over. "Oh... well, still, that doesn't have to mean what you think it means, you know. Heero doesn't have a pull-out couch or anything. They could have just been sharing a bed. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, Wufei."

"They were bare-ass naked."

Relena blushed. "Oh." She cleared her throat. "Well... that still doesn't mean they...did anything."

Wufei just looked back at her, losing his patience. "Relena... I'm going to go surf now. You can either come to surf with me, or you can go pull their au naturel asses out of bed and ask them if they had sex last night. But I am not saying another damned word about it!"

The Chinese boy attached his leash to his ankle stalked into the water in a huff, cheeks burning.
